There are 150 km skiing routes maintained by the local government. You'll see many beautiful sceneries if you take advantage of this sport. In case you like skating or icehockey there is an icerink on the lake and an icehall in the Rantasalmi centre. Many teams in the region use this great possibility to play indoors. In addition, a fitnessclub is available almost whenever you like.

After the nearby lake is free of ice you will see many kinds of rowing. You may even take part in rowing rehearsals – there are 14 seats in the churchboats, go and ask. There are possibilities to to take part in many other sports too, from orienteeging to shooting sports, from horse back riding to swordplay, if you dont mind to drive a few ten kilometers. The natural park of Linnansaari is in the neighbourhood too, as a small hint to you who like canoing.

In case you fancy research the local librarian will help you to get your hands on almost any book you like.
